We have just begun the early planning stages of creating a statutory road association. Is there a list for the Bangor/Ellsworth/MDI area attorneys that have experience in forming a road association?

    Hi

I live at Beech Hill Pond. I have been instrumental in forming a number or road associations in the last couple of years. I think I can help you. Please give me your contact info and I will try to help you!!

If the attorney you mentioned will assist gratis, then you are lucky. If so, use him/her.

However a statutory road association can easily be formed without legal assistance. You likely will not have a substantial bank account to start. I believe the law was set up that way. Just read Sections 3101 -3104 in detail, keep all property owners informed, follow the timing requirements and hold a formative first meeting with a well documented agenda. Remember that the majority should control any votes taken.

Also, in the future, don't be afraid of using the Notice of Claim option if necessary. It can and does work. Good Luck.
