Roadside vegitation control

    Hi,

I am a new member and have found the topics discussed in the discussion forum to be very informative.

Our association maintains about two miles of road, one mile that somewhat parallels the lake. (Lower Long Pond in Mount Vernon.).   Many years ago we were fortunate to have someone with a boom mounted flail mower to cut our roadside as well as keeping the ditches clear of vegitation.

About 8 years ago the man and machine retired.  We have been unable to find a replacement with the result being our ditches have become filled with unwanted vegitation.

MARA membership provides an opportunity to share this issue with hopes that a source could be identified that we could cotract with to have the cutting accomplished.

Any leads will be greatly appreciated.

we hired an excavation contactor to remove overgrowth of ditches. the DEP website lists contractors too. yes the issue is where to put the snow and to keep water off the road- drainage.
