This past winter, and now this summer, we are experiencing increased snowmobile and ATV/dirt bike activity on our private road.  We believe they are contributing to road wear and the need for added maintenance cost, not to mention noise.  Have any Maine Alliance members used successful strategies for minimizing traffic and/or preventing non-residents from adding wear and tear to a private road?

When you say "we" who are you referring to?

Is the "we" an association with members who are using the road for that kind of activity?

What does your deeds say about how the road is to be used?

Need more info please. email me please.

I contacted an attorney because of the same problem. I found out that a private road is closed to the public and no one property owner can invite anyone to use the road for atvs etc.The road association doesnt have the authority to open the road to the public. The only ones that have a legal righ to use atvs are the landowners to access their property. The public has no right to use the road.
