It is not necessary for a road association to join MARA ("register") to be a road association?

MARA is an  information-sharing website whose purpose is to guide leadership in the process of forming a road associations under Maine's private ways statute. The law can be complex but it is important to follow it in order to make unpaid assessments collectible by force of law.

So -- your road association doesn't have to join, but (I hope) MARA may help you if you do!
